Triple Crown Baseball Divisions of Play: On-field results in Triple Crown events will be the most important factor in deciding a team's division of play. Triple Crown Baseball has two main divisions of play.Division 1 Our top competitive level is Division 1 (D1), which you will see listed simply as 9u, 10u, and so on. This division is open to any team that wants to compete at the highest level. Many D1 teams are made up of the best players in a city or county. This is Triple Crown's most competitive division and, frankly, the one we hope most teams will choose to enter. Players get better when they are challenged by top competition! Division 2 When you see Division 2 (or D2) after the age group, that indicates a bracket designed for teams that are not designed to compete with elite teams. Examples of teams that enter this division include (but are not limited to): teams that have players from a limited geographic area, small town teams, or new teams. From a national perspective, the term "Division 2" is comparable to the second level of competition seen in most national tournaments. From a "local league" standpoint, the highest level of your league might be comparable to D2 -- this evaluation is done on a case-by-case basis. However, even if you are sanctioned as a lower team by a national sanctioning body, that does not guarantee you will play Division 2 with Triple Crown. You need to call the tournament director for your Triple Crown event(s) so that person can help you find the best fit with us. Division 2 is not designed to be a paved road to a Championship for weak teams – very good Baseball is played in Division 2. At the same time, we always encourage teams to “play up” in competition to make sure players are being challenged and having chances to improve their skills. Triple Crown Baseball Championships Designed to create great Baseball opportunities in family-friendly locations, Triple Crown Championships have a national reputation for quality of play and quality of vacation experience. Triple Crown World Series – Steamboat Springs (CO): Teams must be "validated" for this event (D1 and D2) -- please inquire with your local Triple Crown representative (or the Headquarter office at 970-223-6644). Our pinnacle Championship, the World Series is played at the end of the summer in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Steamboat Springs is a small ski resort community that is beautiful in July and August. The World Series has a national draw. Some World Series D1 Championship Games are televised across the country. Triple Crown Summer Nationals – Myrtle Beach (SC): Teams must be "validated" for this event -- please inquire with your local Triple Crown representative (or the Headquarter office at 970-223-6644). As the popularity of this event has increased, we split the schedule into two weeks to accommodate more teams – some ages will play the first week, the remaining age groups will play the second week. This Championship consistently attracts top teams from the East Coast along with various representatives from around the country. Triple Crown Spring Championships – Phoenix (AZ): Open Entry, no qualification required! After several years as a regular qualifier, this tournament became a Spring Championship in 2003 and involved 93 teams. The event featured teams from Florida, Virginia, New York Illinois, Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, California and Washington. In 2005, Triple Crown expanded to a 3-weekend format that toured through Spring Training sites in Phoenix (Session 1), Tucson (Session 2), and Phoenix (Session 3). The three sessions allow teams to choose the dates that best fit their Spring schedule. Starting in 2009, all three sessions are played in Phoenix. With tie-ins to MLB Spring Training, this event is a perfect early-season mix of competitive youth baseball and vacation. Triple Crown Fall Nationals – Las Vegas (NV): Launched in 2003, the Las Vegas Fall Nationals involved 97 teams in its first year. Triple Crown now runs a two-weekend format because the event has grown each year and currently attracts approximately 200 teams. While the bulk of the teams come from the West Coast and the Rocky Mountain Region, teams from the Midwest and East Coast also like to make the trip to Vegas. Triple Crown's Las Vegas Fall Nationals provides a great mix of competitive ball and family fun. The event is primarily hosted by the City of Henderson and the fields are second to none. Triple Crown Fall Nationals – St. Augustine (FL): One of Triple Crown’s original Championships, this event has grown to four exciting weekends of baseball, with over 200 teams in attendance. The St. Augustine Fall Nationals tournament is played in October in the oldest city in the United States. St. Augustine is a small coastal resort that offers a wide variety of activities, good dining, and great beaches. The St. Augustine Fall Nationals typically draws teams from East of the Mississippi. It is one of the most competitive events on the Eastern Seaboard. What’s Next? Use the SuperFinder to browse through the Triple Crown schedule, choose some dates that fit your team's calendar, then contact one of the professional event directors at Triple Crown Sports. We are not a sanctioning body and place great importance on providing administrative "ease of access" to our events. The competition is keen, the experience is memorable, and the purpose is simple – Play Ball! Good Luck on the ballfield! We hope to see you at a Triple Crown Baseball event soon.
